Leupold GX-4 Rangefinder
Leupold GX-4 Golf Range Finder
The Leupold GX-4 Golf Rangefinder is the top of the line rangefinder from the leading manufacturer of scopes. The GX-4 features the Club Selector, Fog Mode, Scan Mode, Pin Hunter, Prism Lock, and True Golf Range technology, which uses a sophisticated algorithmic based software to take slope, weather conditions, and your personal striking distance into account. The GX-4 also offers a vivid OLED display and the Smart Key. With the GX-4, the golfer can choose to take off the Smart Key, which disables the True Golf Range function and the Club Selector. By removing the Smart Key, the GX-4 becomes a line-of-site rangefinder.
Smart Key
Plugging in the bright yellow faceplate of the GX-4 activates the the True Golf Range and Club Selector features on the GX-4 and turns it from a simple line of site rangefinder into a slope reading, weather taking, personal swing distance striking aid mechanism. With the silver faceplate, these two features are turned off and the rangefinder will take only the distance measurement, without taking slope or weather into account.
True Golf Range (TGR)
True Golf Range technology takes slope and atmospheric conditions into account to provide a more accurate read of how a distance might play. For example, if the yardage marker reads 150 yards, TGR will factor in uphill or downhill slope, temperature, humidity, and altitude to give you a reading of 165 yards, instead of the 150 yards in straight line distance.Club Selector
To use the Club Selector, input your striking distance for three specific clubs. The GX-4 will recommend a particular club for each shot the golfer takes a reading for. The GX-4 will also fill in the distances of the other clubs that have not been entered into the GX-4.Pin Hunter & Prism Lock
Pin Hunter technology uses sophisticated software and programming to filter out background objects and provide a more accurate reading from the distance measuring laser.Prism Lock technology utilizes prisms embedded in special flag sticks (more and more golf courses are using these flag sticks). Prism Lock gives a more accurate reading of the distance to the flag by locking onto it and giving a distinctive beep to let the golfer know that the reading has been taken. Although using the rangefinder without Prism Lock is fairly easy, one does need to keep it steady and pointed for it to function property. One large advantage in using Prism Lock is that the golfer does not need to be concerned about keeping the rangefinder steady while taking the reading and there is no doubt (because of the beep) that the reading was taken from the flag.
Scan Mode
Scan Mode gives the golfer multiple distance readings in one view. By holding down the Power button, the GX-4 will beep and the display will show the yardages to different points on the course.Fog Mode
Fog Mode on the Leupold Golf Rangefinders is a necessity that non-Leupold rangefinders may not offer. Other rangefinders not equipped with this feature can provide inaccurate readings, or not be able to take a reading in fog. With Fog Mode, the GX-4 cuts through fog to provide an accurate reading.
